However, I was surprised to find that all week I was majorly craving exercise! I was feeling antsy to do a circuit, go for a run or do some yoga, especially after browsing through some motivational blogs, but a congested nose and persistent cough forbade it. It's so silly because usually I’m running through a whole lot of excuses as to why I can’t workout (it’s too early, it’s too late, I’m too hungry, tomorrow!). Was this the universe playing a practical joke on me?
Again I’m reminded not to take my health for granted. As shitty as it is to be constantly attending to a runny nose and feeling lethargic, headachy, fluey and well shit really (all of which contribute to a shitty sleep which further exacerbates the problem), it's also a reminder to appreciate your health. Anyway I am happy to report that while the flu hasn’t quite left the building (my body) yet, I am feeling A LOT better and was even well enough to do a 30minute circuit on Monday. And after I felt incredible! Back on my game. I continued with a yoga sesh on Tuesday and another circuit yesterday. Today I gave myself a break, but intend to do another circuit tomorrow and squeeze in a run over the weekend. It’s like I have all this stored up energy that is waiting to be released.
There’s really no feeling quite like the rush of endorphins you get from breaking up a sweat. Even when I’m feeling super sluggish, during which the sight of tight workout leggings make me squirm, I’m always amazed how great I feel after a bit of huffing and puffing and a good stretch.
Are you in a slump?
Here’s some fitspiration.
Yoga, Pilates, Weights, Running, Sport, Walk, Skip, Dance, Rollerblade, Box, Surf...It’s all good sister!
AMEN!
This is so true... I've been pretty lazy with my morning workouts over the past two weeks because it's dark and cold at 6.30 in the morning now! But if I force myself to get up and at it I always feel better afterwards :) I need another Pilates sesh!

Totally agree the cooler weather makes it more difficult to even change into workout gear out of warm pjs in the morning. That said, once I get going I feel a zillion times better. I'm usually really sensitive to cold as well and find if I workout more regularly I don't feel so cold during the day so it's win win. Agree on the pilates - we need to go another sesh!

ReplyDeleteYeh, I'm finding the more I work out, the more I want to work out, which is great ! Love bike rides too :)
